Odorized Propane

Odorized propane is used as a versatile, clean-burning fuel for heating, cooking, powering appliances, and vehicles, with the added strong, rotten-egg smell (from ethyl mercaptan) serving as a critical safety feature to detect leaks, as propane itself is naturally odorless, preventing explosions and health hazards. It's essential for home heating, water heating, fireplaces, backup generators, and various commercial/industrial uses like forklifts and fleet vehicles.

Odorized Butane

Odorized butane is used as a safe, convenient fuel for lighters, camping stoves, and grills. It also functions as an aerosol propellant in products like deodorants and hairspray and as a petrochemical feedstock.

Non-odorized butane

Non-odorized butane is a high-purity (often 99.5% or higher), colorless, and odorless hydrocarbon gas used primarily in applications where added sulfur-based odorants (like ethyl mercaptan) would contaminate the final product, ruin a chemical process, or negatively affect flavor. It is utilized in specialized industrial, chemical, and laboratory settings rather than for residential fuel. 

Non-odorized Propane

Non-odorized propane, which lacks the typical rotten-egg smell added for safety, is primarily used as a propellant/expellant in aerosol products like deodorants and shaving creams, as a fuel for specialized engines where odor isn't needed (like forklifts), or for industrial processes where it's piped directly and monitored electronically, serving purposes like industrial heating or chemical processing, with regulations allowing it when odor serves "no useful purpose".
